Functional Yoga Workshop
Functional yoga is an approach to our yoga asana practice where we focus on postures and movements that honor your unique body and mind. During our workshop we will explore your ranges of motion, how the body can be supported in a variety of postures and how we can begin to turn inward to best embody the practice. We will focus on the intention of the postures rather than the shape. We will take inspiration from the functional movement world and apply to our asana to encourage sustainability in the practice.

TRE Group Shake
Practioners are invited to a monthly group shake. We will gather together to go through Dr. Berceli’s seven exercise sequence, explore our body’s natural tremor, and learn this great self-help tool to better manage daily stress and trauma.

Trauma-Centered Care: A trauma-informed workshop for yoga & bodywork providers
Trauma-Centered Care: A trauma-informed workshop for yoga & bodywork providers
Yoga is inherently a trauma-informed practice. Through philosophy and culture, the practice of turning inward, toward the true self, can not only help ease the mind but also support the nervous system and body to heal from the stress and trauma we encounter in the world. Trauma-informed yoga practice provides safe and gentle approaches to movement, breathing, and mindfulness. Those who have experienced any range of trauma can benefit from this work. As yoga teachers and bodywork providers, it is essential to come into your teaching space with a trauma-informed lens, though it is often a missed lesson in teacher training. If we truly want to share and express the benefits and goals of yoga, we must learn to foster safety, agency, confidence, and self-regulation techniques for all our students.
Join us Sunday, March 10th from 3:00 pm-5:00 pm at BeMoved Studio for a Trauma Centered Care Workshop.
During this two-hour workshop, Trauma Informed provider, Mariel Ferreiro, will provide a lecture, discussion theory, and practice with a trauma and care-centered lens.
You will gain knowledge and experience:
Yogic Philosophy as it pertains to a trauma-informed practice.
Trauma and the Nervous System: Polyvagal Theory and Application
Ethics and Scope of Practice
Language and cueing
Establishing a trauma-informed space
Trauma-informed movement, breathwork, and meditation
A guided 30-minute trauma-informed class
and more!
Though this training is centered around the philosophy and practice of Yoga, this can be utilized in all aspects of bodywork as Mariel brings much of her Yoga practice into her other bodywork modalities. All teachers, learners, and healing-centered providers are welcomed. (you need not be a yoga teacher to benefit from this workshop)
Please note this will not count as full trauma-informed teacher training but rather give you a view into the practice and tools you can begin to implement in your teaching.
“Meet this transient world with neither grasping nor fear, trust the unfolding of life, and you will attain true serenity.” -Bhagavad Gita

TRE Group Shake
Trauma/Tension Release Exercises, commonly known as TRE, is a practice created by David Berceli, Ph.D. “TRE is an innovative series of exercises that assist the body in releasing deep muscular patterns of stress, tension and trauma.” (Berceli). By utilizing these low impact movements along with self-regulation techniques, individuals can activate a safe natural reflex mechanism of shaking, often called a neurogenic tremor. The provider will guide you through the exercises while maintaining a safe and controlled environment allowing you to tremor or shake out existing muscular tension.
Practioners are invited to a bi-monthly group shake. We will gather together to go through Dr. Berceli’s seven exercise sequence, explore our body’s natural tremor, and learn this great self-help tool to better manage daily stress and trauma. TRE group shake will be held on the first and third Saturdays of the month.
TRE is for all and we will accommodate and make it accessible as much as possible.
3rd Saturday of each month
